Signa Opportunity is recruiting unemployed youth for quality workplace experience through the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative.
About the YES Initiative
The initiative was launched by the President in 2018 and is a partnership with the government and labour department to collectively devise a national plan to build economic pathways for South Africa’s youth by creating workplace opportunities for South African youth over 12 months.

Position: Workshop Assistant

Stipend: R5 500 pm

Location: Middelburg
 

POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities:

1. Tool and Equipment Support:
• Learn and contribute to the organization and maintenance of tools and equipment in the workshop.
• Assist in preparing tools and materials for technicians and mechanics.
2. Workshop Organization:
• Gain exposure to workshop layout and organization.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
3. Assist in Repairs and Maintenance:
• Learn to assist in basic repairs and maintenance tasks under the guidance of experienced technicians.
• Contribute to the dismantling and reassembling of machinery components.
4. Safety Compliance:
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during workshop activities.
• Participate in safety training sessions to ensure a secure working environment.
5. Documentation Support:
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of workshop activities, repairs, and inspections.
• Learn to contribute to basic reports on equipment status.
6. Collaboration with Teams:
• Work closely with senior technicians, mechanics, and other team members to gain practical experience.
• Seek guidance and actively participate in learning opportunities.

• Recent completion of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Passion for machinery and construction.
• Willingness to learn and apply technical knowledge.
• Physical stamina and dexterity for hands-on tasks.
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively.
• Be between the ages of 18 and 34
• Must not have taken part on the YES Programme before

• A positive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow.
• Participation in relevant coursework or training programs.
• Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools.
