Waste Water Operator - Automotive

Our client in the manufacturing industry is looking for a Waste Water Operator to assist in the operation and control of the Paint Plant Pre-Treatment and Waste Water Department. The Waste Water Operator reports to the Paint Plant Supervisor.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Operate water treatment and chemical feed equipment at designated locations: Before painting process (pretreatment), waste water and ‘Basecoat and Clearcoat’ (system tank, sludge scraper).
• Operate water recovery and harvesting for the supply of DI water to all equipment within the paint plant facility.
• Performs water analysis and/or collects samples for preparation, labelling and shipment to a designated laboratory for analysis.
• Works with PLC controls understands water process treatment design, instruments and control panels (Line Guard).
• Conducts preventative maintenance and calibrates feed pumps, controllers, feed rate charts and maintains log sheets.
• Maintains the inventory of spare parts and adequate supply of consumables, sample containers, and shipment containers necessary for routine operation as well as special sampling and analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Tertiary Qualification in Chemical Engineering or related fields essential
• Experience in Chemical environment and/or Pre-treatment of paint processes would be advantageous
• 2 years’ experience in Paint preparation systems would be advantageous
• Experience in Water treatment plants and Pre-treatment Facilities
• Thorough knowledge of waste management

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Computer literacy.
• Able to exercise initiative and to work unsupervised and with a team.
• Good communication and strong problem identification and solving skills.
• Ability to learn and reapply skills on the job.
• Must be flexible and prepared to work shifts and overtime as per operational requirements.

Must be flexible and prepared to work in any other department as per operational requirements.
