SUMMARY:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced UAS Communications Instructor to join our team in the aviation industry and be responsible for providing comprehensive training on operating and maintaining UAS communications system. We have a permanent role in Cape Town.
POSITION INFO:
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver training programs on UAS communication operations, including system communications setup, configuration, assist Mission Commander mission planning, and troubleshooting.
- Design curriculum, lesson plans, and training materials to effectively convey technical information and practical skills related to UAS.
- Conduct classroom and hands-on practical training sessions, simulations, and exercises to ensure trainees are proficient in operating UAS from the ground control station.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to trainees, supporting their learning and development in UAS operations and procedures.
- Assess trainee performance through theoretical as well as practical demonstrations and assessments, ensuring competency in handling various UAS missions and scenarios.
- Stay updated with advancements in UAS technology, incorporating new knowledge into training programs.
- Collaborate with other instructors, subject matter experts, and industry stakeholders to align training with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain training equipment, simulators, and facilities to ensure they are in optimal condition and meet safety standards.
- Uphold safety standards and regulations during training activities.
Candidate requirements:
Qualification and/or professional license(s)
- Diploma in Aviation, Engineering, Education, or a related field.
- AME qualification is advantageous
Years of experience needed
- Proven experience as an Aviation and UAS Communications Operator or Technician, preferably with experience as an instructor.
- 5 – 10 years’ experience
Proficiency in certain applications and/or software
- Familiarity with UAS software platforms.
- Proficiency in using simulation software and other training aids for UAS instruction.
- Experience in ERP systems and logistics software
- Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, CAA part 145)
Sound knowledge of
- In-depth knowledge of UAS datalink and aviation communications systems, telemetry data interpretation, and mission planning.
- Strong instructional and communication skills, with the ability to effectively teach and mentor diverse groups of learners.
- Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment methodologies.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in UAS operations and training.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Non-negotiable
- Knowledge of UAV Systems, components and logistics challenges specific to the industry.
- Strong aviation background
