Job Summary: The Installation Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The role requires strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards, as well as the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Wiring:
- Install electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, outlets, switches, and electrical panels.
- Ensure all installations meet safety regulations and codes.
- Interpret technical drawings, and electrical schematics to plan and install systems.
- Maintenance & Repairs:
- Conduct inspections and maintenance of electrical systems to ensure their proper functioning.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and resolve problems with wiring, circuits, and equipment.
- Repair faulty electrical systems, outlets, switches, and panels as necessary.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to electrical safety standards and regulations.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure safe work practices are followed.
- Educate clients and colleagues on electrical safety procedures and hazards.
- Testing & Diagnostics:
- Perform testing of electrical systems and equipment using various diagnostic tools.
- Identify any issues with wiring, circuits, or devices and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining electrical issues and solutions to clients.
- Offer advice on the proper use and maintenance of electrical systems.
- Respond to client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Provide detailed reports on completed work and any additional recommendations for clients.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other team members, contractors, and project managers to ensure efficient project completion.
- Participate in training and workshops to stay updated on the latest electrical technologies and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an electrician, preferably as an artisan or in a similar role.
- Trade qualification or certification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety practices. Three phase wireman’s license.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documents.
- Proficiency with electrical tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good physical condition and ability to work in various environments (indoor and outdoor).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with industrial and commercial electrical systems.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems (e.g., solar, wind).
- Three phase wireman’s license.
Work Environment:
- Can involve working in various weather conditions and environments, such as construction sites, homes, offices, or industrial plants.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, depending on project deadlines or emergencies.
- Must be willing to work out of town from time to time.
