Technical Sales Representative
 
Our client is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Technical Sales Representative to join their team in the solar energy sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in solar energy systems and a proven track record in sales. You will be responsible for driving sales, providing technical support, and building strong relationships with customers.
 
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
 
Technical Expertise:

• Sound understanding of solar energy systems, including installation, maintenance, and performance metrics
• Able to effectively communicate technical specifications to non-technical clients
• Have a sound understanding of procedures and estimates timeframes from initial project to engagement to final completion

• Proven ability to convert leads into sales
• Developing long-term client relationships within the commercial, industrial, agricultural and mining sectors
• Ability to identify potential target markets, draft strategic approach and sales documentation for each target market

• Ability to listen to customer needs and feedback in order to better design and articulate optimum sales approach

• Conduct site assessments to evaluate the suitability of locations for solar installations

• Stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and market demands to identify new sales opportunities

• Address customer inquiries and concerns, providing effective solutions and ensuring customer satisfaction

• Achieve and exceed sales targets and contribute to the overall growth of the company

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree or N4 qualification in engineering, renewable energy for related field
• 5+ years of experience as a Sales Representative in a technical environment (ideally within renewable energy, solar power, or industrial sectors)
• Experience with B2B sales, particularly within commercial markets, dealing with stakeholders such as engineers, facility managers and procurement teams
• Familiarity with the energy industry specifically alternative energy solutions such as solar PV systems
• Work with SM and other digital marketing tools for targeted campaigns
• Fully computer literate – MS Office Suite
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and developing new business pipelines
• Proven track record of commitment to providing exceptional customer service and building long-term relationships

• Must be driven, motivated by challenges, and resilient in the face of setbacks
• Solve problems, not just report them

• Good listening skills
• Ability to convey complex technical concepts in simple terms and build rapport with diverse client groups

• Able to identify client pain points and propose solutions that meet their needs while aligning with company offerings
• Only sell what you can deliver, don’t oversell and underdeliver

• High level of integrity, honesty and positive attitude
• Must be aligned with the company’s values and culture
• Able to deal with domestic and personal issues outside of the workplace and not affecting your ability to deliver top performance when at work.
