Tax Accounting Manager

SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Tax Accounting Manager to lead tax compliance and strategy for our consumer goods company. This role will oversee tax reporting, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop strategies to optimize tax efficiency while mitigating risks. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, up-to-date tax knowledge, and experience in a fast-paced, consumer-driven environment.

POSITION INFO:

Overseeing compliance with tax laws, including Income Tax, VAT, and Withholding Taxes
Compiling and reviewing CIT calculations to ensure adherence to tax regulations for group entities
Performing deferred tax computations using the balance sheet approach
Managing the preparation and submission of provisional tax returns
Reviewing, validating, and submitting direct and indirect tax filings, including VAT and Withholding Tax
Assessing tax calculations, monitoring GL account movements, and providing insights and analysis
Reconciling tax authority records with internal financial accounts for all tax categories and entities
Ensuring the accuracy, legitimacy, and completeness of tax payments made to regulatory bodies
Preparing tax-related disclosures for financial statements and accounting reports
Assisting in responding to tax authority inquiries by gathering and organizing necessary documentation

Skills & Experience:
A minimum of five years of experience in a similar tax accounting or tax management role
Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the ability to assess their implications on tax computations and reporting
Experience in international tax compliance
Exposure to transfer pricing regulations, including experience with preparing and managing Master and Local Files, is beneficial
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, with the ability to analyse data, prepare reports, and manage tax-related documentation efficiently

Qualification:
Registered CA(SA)
A Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Accounting or Taxation
A Postgraduate qualification in Income Tax or Value-Added Tax (VAT) at NQF Level 8
Advantageous: A Master’s degree in Taxation
