SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a Tankage Engineer to be based in Durban to manage the refurbishment of petrochemical tanks. The position is to start August 2024 for a one-year appointment (with possible additional tanks for following years depending on budget).
This is not a junior position as the person will need to operate independently on the Client site reporting directly to Client senior management.

- Previous experience with the design of petrochemical storage tanks to API 650 / 3.
- Working independently in Design Team
- Preparation of Scope of Work, Drawings, Budget and Timelines
- Answering of technical queries regarding tank building
- Review of quality control for tank construction and refurbishment
- Working on Petrochemical site and full understanding of the HSE involved
- Previous construction management of multimillion-rand projects
DAILY ACTIVITIES TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:- Reviewing API 650/653 Internal Inspection report, Inservice External Inspection report, Floating Roof Inspection report to identify inspection finding and corrective action recommendation for tanks asset integrity concert.
- Develop Tankage repair scope of work to address inspection recommendation finding and
- Participate in /Facilitate vendors site walk visit and SOW work tender briefing.
- Reviewing Tankage repair engineering drawing for Tankage repair for compliance to API 653, API 650 and engineering specifications.
- Review Mechanical Engineer design calculations for equipment repairs, modifications SOW,
- Participate in Tender Adjudication, bid clarifications, and recommendation of technical suitable vendor.
- Developing Tankage out of service NDT Inspections SOW work
- Reviewing contractor schedule and identifying opportunities for improvement and carry out site audits as required, reviewing site execution work progress, review and approve WPC to facilitate payments.
- Participate /facilitating RA session, EMOC sessions, HAZOP Session for Tankage repair and modification work.
- Coordinating with the electrical, instrumentation technicians/engineer for planned maintenance scope of tank ATG systems, earthing-lightning protection, cabling etc.
- Attend various meeting as and when required to support the overall tankage programme.
REMUNERATION: R750,000.00 - R950,000.00 (Negotiable; market-related dependent on qualifications and experience)
