Supply Chain Manager

SUMMARY:
A Head of Department role is available for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead procurement, inventory management, logistics, and demand forecasting. This role requires a background in the automotive component industry coupled with a demonstrated history of people management, strategic thinking, and expertise in optimising supply chain operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.  Reporting directly to the General Manager as part of the Leadership team, this role is based in Gqeberha.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Promote the Company’s core operating principles of Safety and Health, Environmental Stewardship, Highest Ethical Behaviour, Respect for People & Quality throughout the company

• • Procurement
    • Lead procurement team to source the right products at the right time,
    • Supplier contract negotiation, monitoring and performance evaluation,
    • Develop and manage company BBBEE preferential procurement strategy,
  • Inventory and Warehouse Management
    • Raw material and Finished Goods inventory management,
    • Ensure the efficient management of warehouse operations, including stock control, receiving, and dispatching.
    • Implement inventory management strategies to reduce waste and optimise stock.
  • Logistics and Distribution
    • Develop and manage distribution strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of products to customers.
    • Lead the team in collaborating with logistics partners to transport routes, reduce costs, and improve delivery performance.

• Demand Forecasting and Planning
• In conjunction with input from the Sales team, oversee the demand planning team to forecast demand and ensure that the production plan is executed by the production departments as planned and that any constraints are mitigated and/or resolved.
• Cost and Budget Management
• Control and manage supply chain-related costs.
• Supply chain budget preparation and management and the identification of cost savings opportunities and process improvements.
• KPIs tracking: inventory turnover, delivery lead times etc.

• Sustainability and Risk Management
• Develop and implement sustainable sourcing and supply chain practices that align with the company’s environmental goals.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as raw material shortages, production delays, and logistical challenges.
• Prepare contingency plans to manage supply disruptions and maintain business.

• Technology and Process Optimisation
• Use data analytics to track and improve supply chain performance and identify areas for efficiency improvements.
• Lead initiatives to streamline supply chain processes, reduce lead times, and enhance productivity.

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 10 years of experience in supply chain management preferably in the automotive industry
• Minimum 5 years experience in management
• Valid driver’s licence
• Intermediate level of computer literacy (MS Office – especially Excel, PowerPoint & MS Project)
