Statutory Actuary

SUMMARY:
My client is looking for a skilled and experienced Actuarial Function Support Specialist to join their dynamic team. This role is responsible for supporting the Head of Actuarial Function and driving various projects related to product management and model governance within the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with product, actuarial, and financial reporting teams, preparing reports for senior management and board subcommittees.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Head of Actuarial Function in preparing reports for management and board committees, including statutory reports.
• Develop and implement product development, pricing, and product management strategies across the business.
• Manage and govern model governance processes.
• Lead various ad-hoc projects related to product management, valuation bases, solvency, and financial reporting.
• Review and report on matters related to the Actuarial Function within the organization.
• Collaborate with the Head of Risk and Capital Analytics on capital, stress testing, and solvency projections.

• Registered with the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) or a similar professional body.
• Qualified Actuary (FASSA, AMASSA, or equivalent).
• At least 5 years of post-qualification experience with exposure to financial reporting.

• Strong understanding of long-term insurance products and product management.
• Extensive experience with financial reporting (IFRS, EV, SAM) in a life insurance company.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, while maintaining awareness of the regulatory and commercial environment.
• Strong project and process management skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior management.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to technical excellence.
• Ability to manage competing demands and deadlines.
• A self-starter with a strong desire to add value and drive development.
