State Accountant

SUMMARY:
A vacancy exists in Western Cape for the position of a State Accountant.

POSITION INFO:
Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist with the co-ordination, compilation and registration of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF)- Original and Adjusted Budget Process
• Inputs to the Annual Financial Statements
• Loading budgets and requesting reports on the Basic Accounting System (BAS)
• Compilation and distribution of in-year monitoring System (IYM) reports
• Asset register- update, quarterly spot checks and ongoing monitoring for the section
• Review and maintain tariffs register
• Standard Chart of Accounts- SCOA Logs
• Rendering an effective administrative and Human Resource Management function that includes the supervision of subordinates within the Budget Unit

• A three-year (3) relevant degree/ diploma in a financial field (NQF 6)
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a financial environment
• Valid Driver's license

• Ability to work under pressure
• Attention to detail
• Aptitude for figures and ability to work with large excel spread sheets

• Strong financial background specifically in the Public Sector, Finance Management
• Planning and organizing
• Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel)
• Knowledge of the Basic Accounting System (BAS)
• Knowledge of the Public Financial Management Act (PFMA), National and Provincial Treasure Regulations
