Job Title: Site Manager

 

Our client based in the Pietermaritzburg area is seeking a Site Manager. This role would entail overseeing daily operations on construction sites. The individual should ensure projects run smoothly, staying on schedule while maintaining safety and quality. The role requires flexibility to stay out of town for extended periods, as many projects are in different regions or remote areas.

Requirements:

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of steel structure design, fabrication, and installation processes. Familiarity with engineering drawings and building codes.
• Project Management: Experience in managing construction projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Safety Awareness: In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to enforce strict adherence to those standards on the site.
• Certifications: Additional certifications in safety (such as OSHA) or project management
• Experience: Several years of experience working on steel structure projects, including time spent as a site supervisor or project engineer
• Computer literate – MS Office

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement project plans for steel structure construction/installation.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, and contractors on timelines, resources, and deliverables.
• Manage site prep, including scheduling deliveries, personnel, and machinery.
• Lead and supervise a team of workers (welders, fabricators, crane operators, laborers).
• Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring they meet project specifications and codes.
• Inspect steel components to ensure accuracy and compliance with engineering drawings.
• Track project progress, ensuring completion on time and within budget.
• Read structural drawings and manage project programs.
