Senior Resident Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced Senior Resident Engineer to oversee a major roads refurbishment project. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled professional to play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate must be a registered Professional Engineer (PrEng) with ECSA and possess extensive experience in road rehabilitation and refurbishment.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert supervision and management of road refurbishment and rehabilitation projects.
• Oversee contractor activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, contractual obligations, and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections, quality assurance checks, and progress reporting.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
• Lead and coordinate a team of engineers, technicians, and site personnel.
• Ensure adherence to relevant engineering standards (SANRAL, SANS, etc.) and local authority requirements.
• Resolve technical issues on-site and liaise with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.

Key Requirements:

• ECSA Registration as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) or Professional Technologist (PrTechEng) – Essential.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in roads refurbishment/rehabilitation projects.
• Strong knowledge of bitumen, asphalt resurfacing, pavement rehabilitation, and drainage systems.
• Previous experience working on SANRAL or municipal road projects is highly advantageous.
• Proficiency in FIDIC, GCC, or NEC contract administration.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
