Senior RPG Developer required in Fourways that is responsible to lead the design, development, and maintenance of RPG-based applications in our insurance environment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in system enhancements, performance optimization, and mentoring junior developers. This role requires a deep understanding of RPG programming, insurance business operations, and enterprise application architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and enhancement of RPG IV, RPG Free, CL, and DB2-based applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
• Architect, design, and implement scalable solutions to support business growth and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Conduct code reviews, performance tuning, and system optimisations to enhance application efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate developers.
• Develop and maintain API integrations with third-party systems.
• Ensure system security, data integrity, and compliance with industry standards.
• Participate in project planning, effort estimation, and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and provide Level 3 support for production environments.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in RPG programming on IBM i (AS/400) platforms.
• Expertise in RPG IV, RPG Free, CL, SQL, and DB2 database management.
• Understanding of insurance systems, underwriting, claims processing, and policy management.
• Experience with modernizing legacy systems, API development, and web services integration.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Proven experience in technical leadership and mentoring junior developers.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to business stakeholders.
