Senior Production Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Production Manager to lead and oversee all operations, ensuring efficient production processes, adherence to quality standards, and alignment with the company’s operational objectives. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong leadership skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to manage multiple departments and teams effectively.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Oversight:
  
  • Plan, control, and direct production operations to meet defined objectives.
  • Manage both sawmill sites, focusing on performance, productivity, and profitability.
  • Formulate and implement policies to optimise output and mitigate risks.
• Operational Excellence:
  
  • Ensure the effective functioning of the Wetmill and Dry mill divisions, including production planning, recovery, stock control, quality assurance, and machine upgrades.
  • Oversee the central maintenance department, ensuring timely scheduling, quality of service, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Manage budgets, CAPEX planning, and financial performance across all divisions.
• Leadership and Team Management:
  
  • Lead and motivate staff in alignment with labour laws and company policies.
  • Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and high performance within the department.
• Project and Engineering Support:
  
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects across the company.
  • Drive technological improvements to enhance efficiency in the sawmilling divisions.
• Infrastructure Oversight:
  
  • Manage power supply, water reticulation, and other infrastructural elements such as boundary fences and stormwater drainage.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification in manufacturing or a related field.
• At least 15 years of experience in a production-intensive manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 5 years in senior management within manufacturing/production.
• Sawmill production experience is highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of OSHACT compliance and risk management.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, motivate teams, and implement operational improvements.
