Senior Payroll Officer

SUMMARY:
A position has opened for an experienced Payroll Officer to assist the Payroll Manager. Sage 300 experience essential.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

1. Grade 12
2. Finance / Payroll qualification preferred
3. At least 5 years experience in Payroll
4. Sage 300 and VIP Premier experience
5. Excellent Excel experience
6. Detailed orientated

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and distribute payroll work procedures and schedules to the team.
• Proactively inform relevant Line Managers of any potential payroll issues and create corrective action plans.
• Manage the preparation and processing of payroll using Sage VIP Premier.
• Keep employee records accurate and up-to-date.
• Address and resolve employee salary inquiries.
• Support payroll reporting and reconciliations.
• Maintain thorough documentation of payroll control processes.
• Remain current on company remuneration policies and relevant tax laws.
• Prepare and process month-end payroll journals and ensure accurate integration with the financial system.
• Serve as a point of contact for Management and staff regarding payroll matters.
• Review and verify all payroll information submitted by the team.
• Guarantee that all payroll system settings comply with legislative updates, including employee tax year-end in February.
• Reconcile payroll data and provide all necessary information for SARS submissions.
• Adhere to all Payroll deadlines.
