Senior Mechanical Engineer

SUMMARY:
Leading consulting engineering firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with around 8 - 12 years experience in design and project management for the petrochemical industry.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree (BEng/BSc/BTech) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Registration with ECSA (PrEng or PrTechEng).
• 8 - 12 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering design and project management within the petrochemical, oil & gas, or refining industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Caesar II, PV Elite, etc.).
• Experience with industry codes and standards (ASME, API, SANS, ISO, etc.).
• Proven ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

• Lead and oversee mechanical design projects from conceptualization to detailed engineering.
• Provide technical leadership in mechanical systems, including piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, and compressors.
• Develop and review engineering calculations, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
• Conduct FEED (Front End Engineering Design) studies and feasibility assessments.
• Manage the design review process, ensuring quality assurance and adherence to international and local standards (ASME, API, SANS, etc.).
• Coordinate and interface with multidisciplinary teams, including process, civil, electrical, and instrumentation engineers.
• Oversee procurement activities, including material selection and supplier evaluations.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and progress reports, ensuring timely and cost-effective project execution.
• Conduct site visits and provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations in design and execution.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers.
