They take pride in engineering excellence, and now, they are looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to lead their Drawing Office and drive innovation and efficiency in the development of their solutions 

The Role: Design, Develop, and Innovate

As the Senior Mechanical Designer, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and refining next-generation smart cash solutions. You’ll oversee the entire mechanical design lifecycle, ensuring that solutions are not just functional but also optimized for manufacturing, assembly, and durability.

This is a role for a creative problem-solver who can balance technical excellence with practical application, ensuring that products meet the highest standards of precision, durability, and efficiency.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead the Drawing Office – Oversee mechanical design processes, maintain best practices, and drive standards in technical documentation.
• Design & Develop New Products – Work closely with the R&D team to create innovative, cost-effective, and efficient solutions.
• Prototype & Troubleshoot – Build prototypes, identify design issues, and refine solutions to perfection.
• DFMA Principles – Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing and assembly, reducing costs and improving efficiency.
• Technical Support – Work with production teams to ensure products are assembled to specification and troubleshoot any challenges.
• Supplier & Manufacturing Engagement – Collaborate with suppliers to guarantee precision-manufactured components.
• Tooling & Jigs – Design manufacturing jigs, factory layouts, and support production with the right tools.
• Software & Documentation – Utilize SolidWorks and AutoCAD for design, factory layouts, and manage PDM workflows.
• Mentor & Manage – Guide and support a junior mechanical designer, ensuring high standards in design execution.

What They are Looking For

• Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma OR proven experience with an outstanding portfolio.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, and detailing.
• Extensive manufacturing industry knowledge – you understand how things are made!
• Mastery of SolidWorks & AutoCAD – including PDM system management.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills – someone who loves tackling complex design challenges.
• Hands-on approach – you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get involved with prototyping and production.
• Attention to detail – precision is everything in our world.
• Excellent organizational & multitasking skills – handling multiple projects efficiently.
• A self-motivated innovator with a passion for engineering and design.

Work Location & Conditions

• Based in New Germany, Durban 
  Monday – Friday, 08h00 – 16h00 (overtime may be required during peak periods).
