SUMMARY:
A well-established financial services business is seeking to appoint a Senior Legal Advisor: Recoveries & Insolvency. To create and manage an end-to-end legal recoveries capability. The function should maximise cost effective recoveries and contributing to minimising financial loss and mitigating risk.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Education and Experience:

LLB or equivalent qualification.
Admission as on attorneys is a requirement or admitted Advocate having served pupillage.
8 years experience in legal recoveries / debt collection environment, preferably in a bank at the senior management level.
5 years management experience is preferable.
Manage land claims, ensure recovery of money on properties subject to land claims.
Track all claims to ensure that maximum recovery takes place
Maintain relationships with external service providers (attorneys; debt collectors, etc.) and handle their queries timeously.
Strategy development and overseeing the legal recovery process including insolvency and debt collection
Manage various functions within Legal Recoveries in order to maximise cost effective recoveries.

Critical Competencies

Experience in restructuring of distressed accounts
Understanding of Insolvency legislation and practises in South Africa
In depth knowledge of the Companies Act, NCA, CPA, Land Bank Act, and other relevant legislations
