Senior Legal Advisor

SUMMARY:
Gijima Staffing Solutions is recruiting a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor on behalf of our client. This role is essential in providing clear, accurate, and strategic legal guidance to mitigate legal risks within the organization’s daily operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong corporate and commercial legal knowledge, ensuring compliance and efficiency in all legal dealings.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:
  
  • Law degree and Admission as an Attorney (Essential).
  • A Master’s degree (LLM) is advantageous.
• Experience:
  
  • Minimum 5 years of post-article experience in banking and finance, corporate finance, or project finance.
  • 8-10 years of experience in banking, finance, state-owned enterprises (SoE), or development finance institutions (DFIs) (restructuring, turnaround, & business rescue experience is essential).
  • Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and restructuring financing agreements, including cross-border, project finance, and corporate finance transactions.
  • Experience in high-level transactional negotiations.
  • Deep understanding of local and international financing instruments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert legal advice and conduct thorough legal research.
• Structure, negotiate, and restructure corporate and commercial transactions, including project finance and cross-border financing deals.
• Assess, evaluate, and structure import and export finance transactions.
• Ensure adherence to internal legal policies and procedures.
• Identify and mitigate potential legal risks.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize financing agreements and other legal documents.
• Stay abreast of and provide insights on legal and regulatory developments.
• Conduct legal due diligence investigations.
• Foster efficiencies to improve client satisfaction through effective legal services.
• Establish and maintain relationships with legal service providers, business rescue practitioners, and key stakeholders.
• Develop and sustain client and institutional relationships locally and internationally.
