Senior Developer

SUMMARY:

PURPOSE:
 
The role of the Senior Developer is to design, develop, modernise and integrate application solutions, services and business requirements within the client environment.

FORMAL EDUCATION:

• Grade 12
• Tertiary qualification in Information Technology (NQF 6) or relevant years' experience and technical certification

• At least 5 years' experience in systems in system development of multiple and complex enterprise solutions where Java was utilised as the development technology.
• At least 5 years working experience with any of the following:
  • Oracle 12; and PL/SQL.
• In addition to the above technologies working experience with any of the following will be a definitive advantage:
  • Rational Application Developer for z/OS, HTML/XHTML, LDAP, JDBC, XML, XSL, XSLT, SAX/DOM, Xpath, Xquery, SOAP, Web Services WSDL, WebSphere MQ, IBM Integration Bus Version 9.0 (IBM App Connect Enterprise 11 – New Version), Websphere Application Server
• Experience in legacy system modernisation.
• Experience in conducting data quality checks, data cleansing, and data validation.
• Experience working on projects or large continuous improvement initiatives
• Web 2.0 patterns (Ajax, DHTML)
• Experience in the Service Oriented Architecture philosophy will be a definite advantage

• Design, code, test and maintain components using Java/J2EE
• Development and unit testing of WebSphere Application Server and IBM MQ Series components.
• Software design of solution components
• Development and unit test of Java and J2EE code for components
• Development and unit test of scripting programs.
• Integrate components within the client solution.
• Documentation of software design and code.
• Familiar with J2EE architecture.
• Familiar with IBM WebSphere products, such as WAS, Portal and MQ.
• Portal project implementation experience is preferred.

• The TDS forms the blueprint for the ICDMS Phase 2 project being developed. It must stipulate the technical designs, methodology, procedures, workflows and tests in the use of the system. It must capture, in detail, all the different stages of the system development of the product, ensuring a clear understanding of every aspect of the project for both the development group and the end user. The technical design provides the specifics of how functional design is to be implemented and aligned with the solution architecture.

• Build the integration design for the ICDMS integrations required per release aligned with the solution architecture and the SAPS messaging-based integration architecture.

• Build the application, integration and data components. Review and improve the code written. Integrate the application and other components.

• Driven by the Physical data model, the database is generated from the Data Definition Language (DDL) scripts either provided with the packaged application or those generated from the data modelling tool for the custom application build.

• Integrate the components incrementally, from the lowest level components up based on the compilation dependencies between the components. At each increment, add a few components into the current build. Repeat this step until all builds in the current development iteration are completed.

• Ensures that the final solution is tested end-to-end, proven to be stable, works as originally specified, and is satisfactory to the project sponsors.

• Test the transition of systems to production and complete the testing life cycle.

• The integration of multiple components of the developed solution.
