POSITION INFO:
JOB OVERVIEW
The Senior Design Engineer is responsible to work on all development phases from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning.
Including the management of small design groups. The goal is to design and assist in fabrication and assembly of mechanical components of innovation and excellence.

Design
Perform concept design, calculations and layouts of new designs
Evaluate Finite Element simulations results
Prepare Solid Models of components; sub-assemblies and assemblies, using the business file structure guidelines, number protocol and design standards
Prepare concept layouts of design concepts, using own design initiative and incorporating the inputs of members of the design team, with input from the team leader
Prepare detail layout and manufacturing drawings of components and assemblies
Ensure correct drawing standards are used on drawings done under supervision by draftsman or in own capacity
Responsible for drawing sign-off according to drawing standards.
Ensuring data integrity during release process
Responsible for the technical integrity of the allocated design, including the integration on system level.

Development
Follow the development process and procedures as described in the quality system, ensuring that the relevant reviews and procedures are completed, in order to reduce design risk
Assist during the building and testing of prototypes, ensuring that closed loop feedback can take place during the design process
Communicate with manufacturing and sub-contractors, to ensure the flow of information during prototyping and production
Mentoring of junior engineers on development process
Ensure all project documentation are generated and gathered, as well as filled accordingly to business processes.


Test & Evaluation
Communicate and incorporate inputs from the test and analysis parties during the design process.
Include the test and analysis parties to perform tests and analysis to complete the design cycle utilising business processes.
Plan, schedule and execution of tests as required on allocated sub-system.

Project Management
Ensure that projects are executed according to the time, mass and budget targets, set by the Design team leader.
Represent the business at design reviews.
Attend design reviews internally and externally with the client, meeting people, representing ADGM with authority, and make technical decisions.
Management of systems throughout the acquisitioning phase, being accountable.
Manage a design group, within a program.
Organise MRB, to ensure decision making takes place swiftly.
To take up the responsibilities of system integrator on large programs in support of Chief designer.

Support
Production support, capturing of red-line drawings during the building and prototype phase
Assist ILS with repair, maintenance and other information required.
Support the procurement department during supplier evaluation and during the procurement cycle
Responsible for the allocated design from concept phase up to sign-off.
Ensuring components are procured and quality assessed during the acquisition phase.
Ensure suppliers confirm to all requirements, as set out in project specifications.

Technology
Keep up to date with new trends in the automotive and military field, by reading technical papers and documents, as supplied
Research new technologies that can be utilised in the business.

ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 responsibilities
Ensure compliance according to the business policies and procedures
Adhere to the business SHEQ policy.

EXPERIENCE
o Experienced engineers with 5 + years of experience will be considered as senior engineers.
o Previous experience in the military vehicle design environment would be greatly advantageous.
o Liaison with other departments across the Value Chain and baselines to co-ordinate progress and
influence on various stages of the development.
o Help develop PM strategy, processes and procedures, in line with department and company
strategies and procedures.

QUALIFICAITONS
o (Post-) Graduate degree in Mechanical/ Design Engineering, or
o N-Dip in Mechanical/ Design Engineering, or
o B-Tech Degree in Mechanical/ Design Engineering
o Other relevant certificates will be advantageous.

SKILLS REQUIRED

o Experience with PMBoK (preferred), or similar
o Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
o Onshape, NX12 (Unigraphics) preferred or relevant CAD package
o Microsoft Office
