Data Engineer (Analytical Department)

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Build: Develop end-to-end data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to centralize and transform data from various sources.
• Data Mart Management: Design, implement, and optimize high-performing data marts for analytical and reporting needs.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Deploy and maintain scalable data solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Data Governance: Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with standards like GDPR and POPIA.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor and enhance query and pipeline performance to support analytics.
• Collaboration: Partner with analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to align data solutions with business goals.
• Support & Maintenance: Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline and infrastructure issues to ensure seamless operation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Expertise:
  
  • Advanced skills in SQL and Python for data transformation and automation.
  • Proven experience in data mart design and management (e.g., star and snowflake schemas).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS (Redshift, S3), Azure (Data Factory, Synapse), or GCP (BigQuery).
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Prefect).
  • Knowledge of big data tools like Apache Spark or Hive is a plus.
• Tools & Platforms:
  
  • Strong skills in BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines for data projects.
• Soft Skills:
  
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Clear communication to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
