Senior Corporate Actuarial Analyst

SUMMARY:
Our Corporate Client is an exceptional, premier commercial risk specialist in Africa who enables better risk decision across the continent is seeking a Senor Corporate Actuarial Analyst to join their Finance Division.  The candidate will be responsible for reserving, capital analytic and reporting tasks as assigned, requiring minimal guidance and be able to contribute to the review and quality assurance of other team members' work.

POSITION INFO:

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

Reserving Specific:

• Extract, collate and transform data. Prepare and upload into software. Run models, export results, and collate reports, while adhering to all process governance and quality assurance requirements.
• Prepare quarterly reserve and profitability review reports. Present findings at relevant governance meetings chaired by CFO.
• Participate and support team and chair with meeting preparation and administration. Set agendas, record, and distribute actions.
• Support various Finance and other business functions e.g., reinsurance, investment, capital, etc.

Capital Specific:

• Extract, collate and transform data. Prepare and upload into software. Run models, export results, and collate reports, while adhering to all process governance and quality assurance requirements.
• Prepare quarterly and annual; solo and group; qualitative and quantitative regulatory returns.
• Help compile and prepare the company’s Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (“ORSA”). With specific responsibility for the Risk Tolerance Statement, Stress and Scenario Testing, and Solvency Projections.
• Participate in the calculation of the Client’s Solvency Capital Requirement, reviewing their Asset-Liability Management and the risk-based allocation of capital to the various business units.
• Prepare and present results to the Capital Forum chaired by the CFO.

General:

• Contribute various analyses as part of the annual planning cycle in the organisation. These include calculation of inflation projections, calibration of large loss thresholds, appropriate loadings for large, catastrophe and weather claims, as well as reinsurance programme costing.
• Support the annual reinsurance programme renewal with various analyses and data extractions.
• Have experience working within IFRS17 requirements, with a working knowledge of the standard, and relevant actuarial concepts, methods, and techniques.

Qualifications, Experience and Behaviours:

Qualifications:

• University degree in Actuarial Science or a related field.
• Evidence significant exam progress towards qualifying as an actuary.

Experience & Skills:

• Proficiency in English
• Effective intermediate oral and written communication, interpersonal skills
• At least five years of relevant work experience
• Ability to extract and summarise data
• Experienced user of reserving and capital modelling software e.g., Psicle, Igloo, ResQ, etc.
• Experienced in delivering work within timelines demanded by corporate reporting calendar.
