Senior BI Specialist

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing technical BI standards and strategies.
• Mentor and guide intermediate and junior BI developers and business users.
• Lead full BI project life cycles: from issue analysis and solution design to development, testing, and implementation.
• Design and build dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for stakeholders and executive leadership.
• Utilise the Microsoft BI stack (SSRS, SSAS, SQL, Power BI) and related tools (R, Python, MS Power Tools).
• Drive innovation with Power Platform, machine learning, and generative AI technologies.
• Conduct data quality assessments and ensure BI best practices.
• Support end-users and technical teams, including training and documentation.
• Stay up to date with BI tools, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
• Work on multiple assignments concurrently under tight deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12 (NQF equivalent)
• Bachelor of Science in Mathematics / Statistics or related field
• MS BI Certification & Data Analytics Certification
• Advanced SQL query writing skills
• Proven experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents)
• Experience in data analysis, mining, and advanced Excel
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to work independently in a dynamic environment

• R and Python scripting
• DAX script writing
• Financial reporting experience
• Power BI solution development
• BI cloud development (data lakes, visualisations)
• SSIS or other ETL tools
• C# intermediate experience
• Data warehousing concepts
