Scrap Metal Small Scales Operator

The Group currently has a vacancy for a fast paced and accurate Small Scales Operator to join the team. The successful candidate will assist with buying of Non-Ferrous and Ferrous metals at the Small Scales Department situated at the Elandsfontein yard in Gauteng. The successful candidate will report to the Production Manager. He/she will also have to:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Weigh incoming scrap metal
• Correctly identify and grade incoming scrap metal
• Have experience using and analysing the handheld spectrometer
• Capture correct data on to the small scales system
• Direct bins to the appropriate offloading areas
• Be honest to the Company and to the company’s customers at all times
• Be able to work under pressure
• Pay attention to detail
• Be able to work both in a team and as an individual

QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE

• A minimum Grade 12 certificate
• Basic mathematical skills
• Knowledge of different types and grades of metals
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in scrap metal
• Computer literacy

QUALIFYING ATTRIBUTES

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to liaise professionally with customers and colleagues
• Ability to follow instructions
• Strong sense of honesty
