Overall Responsibility:
As an external sales executive, your overall responsibility revolves around driving sales within the organization by effectively managing relationships with existing clients and seeking out new business opportunities. For an internal sales executive it is pivotal in driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and fostering strong client relationships. By effectively managing the sales process, collaborating with internal teams, and staying abreast of industry trends, you contribute to the overall success and profitability of the organization.
Main responsibilities of Focus Area
Client Relationship Management:
- Communicating with customers, making outbound calls to potential customers, and following up on leads.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients through regular communication, meetings, and presentations.
- Answering potential customers' questions and sending additional information per email.
- Keeping up with product and service information and updates.
- Explaining and demonstrating features of products and services.
- Staying informed about competing products and services.
- Identifying sales opportunities.
- Closing sales and achieving sales targets.
- Understand clients' needs, preferences, and challenges to provide tailored solutions and maximize client satisfaction.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, issues, and requests, ensuring prompt resolution and excellent customer service.
Business Development Management
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the target market or industry.
- Conduct market research to identify potential clients, industry trends, and competitive offerings.
- Develop sales strategies and plans to penetrate new markets and expand the client base.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to develop promotional materials, campaigns, and sales collateral to support business development efforts.
Performance tracking and reporting
- Creating and maintaining a database of current and potential customers.
- Upselling products and services.
- Researching and qualifying new leads.
- Track sales activities and pipeline progress to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular sales reports and updates for management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities.
- Analyze sales data and trends to identify patterns, insights, and opportunities for optimization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with external teams, including marketing, product development, and customer support, to align sales efforts with organizational goals and initiatives.
- Provide feedback and insights from clients and prospects to inform product development, marketing strategies, and customer service improvements.
- Coordinate with sales support functions, such as sales operations, finance, to ensure smooth and efficient sales processes.
Continuous Learning and Development
- Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and best practices in sales and business development.
- Participate in training programs, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance sales skills and knowledge.
- Actively seek feedback from peers, managers, and clients to identify areas for growth and development
Sales Process Management
- Manage the end-to-end sales process, from prospecting and lead generation to closing deals and post-sales support.
- Qualify leads and opportunities based on criteria such as budget, timeline, and decision making authority.
External Sales
- Travel within sales territory to meet new prospects and customers.
- Conduct calls and face-to-face meetings with customers daily.
- Build and maintain relationships with new and repeat customers.
- Educate customers on how products or services can benefit them financially and professionally.
- Sell the company’s products or services to customers within your given territory.
- Monitor the company’s industry competitors, new products, and market conditions to understand a customer's specific needs.
- Creating and maintaining a sales pipeline.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Matric
- Computer Literacy
- 2+ years of sales experience in a related industry
