SHEQ Officer

SUMMARY:
Our client within FMCG/Manufacturing arena based in Killarney Gardens is seeking a SHEQ Officer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Safety or Environmental Management (preferred). A strong knowledge of OSHA, local HSE by-laws, environmental laws, and ISO 14001 & 45001 standards is essential. Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel dashboarding, reporting, and critical analysis, is required. The role demands someone who can work independently, drive department goals, and meet deadlines while maintaining high professional communication with clients and staff. REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years of relevant experience (preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety or Environmental Management (preferred)
• Knowledge of OSHA, local HSE by-laws, environmental laws, and ISO 14001 & 45001 standards
• Proficient in MS Office, with strong Excel dashboarding, reporting, and critical analysis skills
• First Aid certification (desirable)

• This position is responsible for providing an integrated SHE Management service to ensure identification and management of SHE risks within company.
• Identification and management of sustainability initiatives that enhances business performance and supports the long-term business interests of company.
• To implement and manage the safety, health & environmental philosophy, processes and systems to ensure responsible business conduct by complying with all applicable legal and other requirements.

• Ensure the relevant committees are coordinated and maintained effectively.
• Identifying hazards: Identifying potential hazards and assessing risk.
• Monitoring conditions: Monitoring working conditions and ensuring that risk controls are effective.
• Advising management: Advising management on how to ensure employees follow safety and health rules.
• Developing plans: Developing, implementing, and improving health and safety plans, programs, and procedures.
• Ensuring compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
• Training employees: Identifying training needs and organizing training for employees and executives.
• Investigating incidents: Investigating workplace accidents and safety-related complaints.
• Performing inspections: Performing site inspections and safety audits.
• Inspecting equipment: Inspecting equipment and machinery to identify unsafe conditions.
• Responding to emergencies: Performing emergency response drills and participating in emergency teams.
• Reviewing policies: Reviewing existing policies and measures and updating them according to legislation.
• Prepare reports on Safety, Health and Environment as required.
• Manage and control safe standard operating inspection sheets and procedures.
• Co-ordinate safety administration activities on site.
• Conduct Safety, Health, Risk, and Environmental checks as required.
• Provide support and coordinate induction for on-site contractors.
• Administration of Health and Safety notices and communication as required.
• Coordinate OHS functions: investigation, risk assessment, training.
• Administration of all OHS documentation in conjunction with SHEQ.
• Ensure that policies and procedures at all sites is aligned and executed.
• Take minutes of the OHS meetings and coordinate the to-do list.
• Upkeep of all OHS filing and files.
• Conducting JSA's (Job Safety Analysis) compacted risk assessment for the weekly tasks being done on site.
• Toolbox talks.
• Auditing of sub-contractors.
• Review & monitor SHE Plan/Risk Assessment/Fall.
• Protection Plan.
• Incident/Accident investigation if necessary.
• Daily, weekly & monthly registers that need to be checked.
• Safety file inspection to prepare for monthly audits.
• Site inspection.
• Conduct audits and inspections of plants to ensure compliance & conformance.
• Perform planned task observations at the plants.
• Non-conformances and deviations are identified and corrected.
• Unsafe acts and conditions identified and reported to management.
• Improvement of Safety standards for the site.
• Ensure compliance to the requirements of any permits, licenses, certificates or authorizations.
• Ensure Legal compliance audits are conducted and all findings addressed for the site/plants
• Ensure that all legal appointments are up to date.
• Ensure SHE mandatory training is conducted.
• Effective contractor management at the site.
• Ensure a Waste Management Plan is in place.
• Ensure conservation management plan is in place and updated.
• Effective management of environmental aspects & impact of the site.
