SENIOR INVESTMENT ANALYST (Unlisted | Private Equity) – Century City, Cape Town

Our Client, a reputable and growing Investment Firm is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Investment Analyst to join their dynamic team of professionals.

One would describe you as a self-motivated and driven professional who has the ability to analyse complex information and drive resolutions to key issues raised with your proven problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills.

This position has the potential to develop into an Investment Principal role over the medium term i.e.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Sector Research: Stay abreast of industry and / or sector developments
• Deal Origination: Build and maintain a network of deal sources within the early-stage investment ecosystem that regularly introduce high quality opportunities into the fund’s pipeline
• Deal Evaluation: Manage a pipeline of potential investments at different stages of the screening process, with senior support
• Project Management: Executing all of the above within a strongly project managed work process is essential
• Deal Execution, with support from senior support:
• Due diligence: Undertake focused research and analysis as part of the due diligence process to understand the growth potential of a mid-market business (including executing fundamental strategic analysis and applying sound business judgment to assess the market opportunity, the business model, and core team). Analyse historical financials and conduct financial modelling in order to value the company. Detail financial modelling as per the Company’s Financial Modelling Standards. Own one or more workstreams with the Due Diligence
• Closing: Support the senior team in managing the process of Drafting, negotiation and execution of legal agreements; Effective transaction hand-over process and on-going collaboration with PIM and Administration teams
  • Track market developments/press coverage and provide regular summary reports
  • Assisting with ad hoc duties as required by or assigned by Management and Senior Team

Qualifications & Experience:

• Qualified CA (SA) / CFA / related
• 4 Years related valuations experience gained with 2 years’ experience gained in private equity valuations
• Proven track record of leading transactions in the unlisted/private markets sector including:
  • Assessing opportunities for investment fit
  • Playing a key role in the DD process
  • Managing external service providers such as legal, insurance and technical advisors
  • Negotiating key investment terms and translating these into agreements
  • Preparing reports and leading Investment Committees through the merits and risks identified in transactions
  • Financial modelling experience
• Proven and vested interest in the investment / private equity / infrastructure industry
• Proven Leadership skills
• Strong qualitative and quantitative valuation/analytical/financial skills
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
