About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced SAIPA Accountant to join our dynamic accounting practice. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in an accounting firm, with a strong understanding of financial statements, tax, and compliance regulations. This role requires someone who thrives in a practice environment, servicing multiple clients across different industries.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Statements: Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with IFRS for SMEs.
Accounting & Bookkeeping: Oversee and process client accounting records, including reconciliations, journals, and adjustments.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, Income Tax, and Provisional Tax returns for clients.
Client Management: Engage with clients to provide accounting and tax-related advice, ensuring compliance with SARS regulations.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all accounting work aligns with SAIPA, SARS, and other relevant authorities' guidelines.
Payroll Processing: Oversee payroll processing and compliance for multiple clients.
Audit Support: Assist with audit preparation and liaise with auditors as required.
Mentorship: Assist junior accountants and trainees within the firm.

Minimum Requirements

â SAIPA Accredited Accountant (or eligible to register as a Professional Accountant – SAIPA).
â Minimum 3 years of experience in an accounting firm (NOT commerce).
â Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs, VAT, Income Tax, and SARS eFiling.
â Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Pastel, Sage, CaseWare, Draftworx).
â Advanced Excel and solid understanding of reconciliations and general ledger processing.
â Ability to handle multiple clients and meet strict deadlines.
â Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
â Must be able to work independently and in a team.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Cloud Accounting Software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks Online).
Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical mindset.
Exposure to tax planning and consulting services is an advantage.
