Resident Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee and drive the successful execution of large-scale, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on road construction. This role presents an opportunity to apply technical expertise in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment, ensuring quality-driven project delivery while fostering effective collaboration among stakeholders.

POSITION INFO:

Technical Oversight: Independently manage technical deliverables, ensuring compliance with GCC2015, SABS1200, and COLTO standards
Project Execution: Oversee construction activities, ensuring alignment with approved designs, specifications, and contractual obligations
Quality Assurance: Verify physical properties, dimensions, and materials against construction drawings and specifications to uphold industry standards
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, statutes, and by-laws, as well as environmental and safety requirements
Safety & Environmental Management: Enforce approved safety plans and compliance with environmental conditions, programs, and plans to maintain project integrity
Wayleave & Permissions Management: Secure all necessary wayleaves and occupation permissions, ensuring project continuity
Stakeholder Communication: Utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams effectively
Documentation & Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations, providing valuable insights and recommendations
Scheduling & Coordination: Ensure project milestones are met within the construction schedule and contractual deadlines
Contract Duration: 16 months

Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 8 – 10 years of relevant experience, particularly in road infrastructure projects, preferably SANRAL projects
Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Civil Designer for effective design interpretation and execution
Strong project planning, organizational, and task management abilities
A thorough understanding of construction methodologies and technical specifications
Ability to work independently and drive project success through proactive decision-making

Qualification:
National Diploma, BTech/Advanced Diploma, or BEng in Civil Engineering
Professional registration with ECSA is preferred
