Resident Engineer

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary representative of the engineering team on site for major road construction projects.
• Ensure that all works are executed in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee and manage day-to-day site operations, coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders.
• Monitor progress against project timelines and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Conduct site inspections and quality assurance assessments to ensure that construction activities comply with engineering standards.
• Resolve technical issues on-site and escalate issues when necessary.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, plans, and designs.
• Liaise with SANRAL, provincial authorities, and other relevant bodies to ensure project compliance.
• Prepare and maintain detailed site reports, documentation, and project records.
• Manage site safety and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.

• Minimum of 3 years post-registration as a Professional Technologist (Pr TechEng) or Professional Engineer (PrEng).
• Proven experience as a Resident Engineer on major roads projects - SANRAL or provincial roads.
• Experience working on at least 3 major roads projects.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
• Strong technical expertise in civil engineering and road construction.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
