Duties:
- Lead the preparation and submission of IFRS 17-compliant financial statements and disclosures.
- Ensure full compliance with IFRS 17 standards, engaging with auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee the transition and operationalisation of IFRS 17 into monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes.
- Maintain and update technical accounting policies and documentation related to IFRS 17.
- Develop and implement improvements in IFRS 17 reporting frameworks, focusing on automation and data flow efficiency.
- Work closely with actuarial and finance teams to ensure alignment between IFRS 17 processes and business reporting needs.
- Establish and refine financial controls and reconciliations to enhance data integrity and reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate with finance, actuarial, and IT teams to integrate IFRS 17 requirements into financial systems and reports.
- Provide technical IFRS 17 training and guidance to finance and business teams.
- Support senior management with insights into IFRS 17 financial results and emerging trends.
- Ensure data and actuarial valuation processes are aligned with IFRS 17 reporting requirements.
- Oversee the validation and reconciliation of IFRS 17 data inputs and outputs.
Job Experience & Skills Required: Qualifications: - Matric (Grade 12)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- BCom Honours in Accounting / CTA
- CA(SA)
Experience: - Completed SAICA Articles
- Minimum 5+ yearsof experience in financial reporting, with a strong focus on IFRS 4 and IFRS 17.
- In-depth understanding and practical experience with IFRS 17 implementation and reporting.
- Experience within the insurance sector, preferably in financial reporting or technical accounting.
- Proven track record in managing financial reporting processes and controls.
Skills & Competencies: - Strong technical knowledge of IFRS 17 and financial reporting frameworks.
- Excellent financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial reporting systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills – able to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to drive process improvements and enhance reporting efficiencies.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
