Accountable for the regional logistics operations, ensuring the seamless integration of warehousing, distribution, financial management, and corporate governance standards. This role demands comprehensive oversight of regional logistics processes, managing complex variables across functional areas. It requires a strategic and operational focus, with the objective of optimizing service delivery, reducing costs, and ensuring compliance with SHEQ, Security, and Corporate Governance standards.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership and operational management across regional warehousing and logistics functions, ensuring the alignment of primary and secondary distribution with customer service objectives, financial efficiency, and corporate governance. The RLM will drive the execution of warehousing excellence, ensuring stock accuracy, minimization of losses, and efficient space utilization, while leading cost optimization initiatives and ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of all logistics operations.
The Regional Logistics Manager is ultimately accountable for managing the Distribution Centre and regional logistics network to align with business strategy and contribute to The Beverage Company's Customer Service, Volume Growth, Market Share, and Cost Optimization aspirations. This must be achieved through sustainable, compliant, and risk-averse practices within a dynamic FMCG environment.
Key Accountabilities and Outputs:
Optimize Product Fulfillment and Distribution:
- Lead and coordinate primary and secondary distribution processes, ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery to meet On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) targets.
- Ensure alignment of Distribution Service Packages (DSPs) with customer agreements, with ongoing review mechanisms to guarantee adherence and responsiveness to customer needs.
- Implement advanced distribution planning and forecasting tools to optimize stock replenishment and ensure no service interruptions.
- Collaborate with transport partners to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are maintained, and operational performance is reviewed regularly to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Establish a consistent process for Sales Order Management, ensuring that internal and external customer requirements are met in line with pre-defined service level agreements (SLAs).
Warehousing Operations Excellence:
- Oversee the efficient operation of regional Distribution Centres, ensuring inventory accuracy, optimal space utilization, and continuous flow of goods across the supply chain.
- Implement best-in-class warehousing standards, with a focus on reducing damage, shrinkage, and stock obsolescence.
- Monitor the performance of warehousing teams, ensuring adherence to safety, efficiency, and quality standards.
- Lead process improvement initiatives focused on warehouse layout optimization, picking accuracy, and minimizing stock movement times.
- Ensure stock cycle counts are conducted at regular intervals, with a focus on eliminating variances and managing shrinkage within acceptable limits.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to align production schedules with warehouse capacity, ensuring minimal stockouts or overstocking situations

Financial Management and Reporting
- Drive regional logistics financial management, ensuring accurate and timely reporting on all financial aspects of logistics operations, including budgets, forecasts, and expenditures.
- Develop and implement cost optimization initiatives, focusing on reducing operating costs (overtime, temporary labor, fuel, and vehicle maintenance) while improving service levels.
- Lead the region's month-end close process, ensuring precision in financial reporting and variance analysis for logistics-related activities.
- Monitor and control regional logistics expenditure to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines, identifying opportunities to streamline costs and increase financial efficiency.
- Ensure a continuous focus on financial discipline across all logistics activities, with detailed cost-benefit analysis on any new initiatives or operational changes.

SHEQ, Security, and Compliance:
- Ensure full compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards within all regional logistics and warehousing operations.
- Develop and implement safety protocols to mitigate risk and ensure the well-being of all employees, contractors, and visitors to the warehouse.
- Lead the identification and management of operational risks, with a focus on safety, security, and environmental sustainability.
- Oversee security protocols within warehousing and logistics, ensuring the safeguarding of inventory, personnel, and assets.
- Regularly audit logistics operations to ensure adherence to corporate governance, regulatory requirements, and ethical business practices.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives in SHEQ, ensuring that best practices are shared across the region and any incidents are managed with a view to root cause analysis and future prevention.
