Our client, a leading manufacturer in the cosmetics and skincare industry, is looking for a Raw Materials Buyer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and managing raw materials, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and optimising procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and place orders for raw materials, bulk, supplements, and skincare devices, ensuring timely and complete deliveries.
- Negotiate favourable terms and pricing with suppliers to optimise cost efficiency.
- Manage purchase orders, including tracking ETA, price changes, and minimum order quantities (MOQs).
- Implement cost-saving strategies, such as consolidating loads, bulk orders, and maintaining a six-month rolling forecast.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to enhance communication and collaboration.
- Oversee supplier complaints, ensuring quick resolution and stock replacements.
- Perform SYSPRO transactions, including requisitions, purchase orders, and MRP parameter management.
- Collaborate with internal teams, ensuring smooth procurement processes.
- Work with R&D to identify and source alternative suppliers as part of risk management.
- Handle imports and clearing documentation with freight forwarders.
- Monitor inventory levels to minimise stock shortages.
- Compile and manage monthly reports, including forecasts, open orders, and MRP reports.
- Stay updated on market trends, pricing changes, and emerging raw material technologies.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.
- Assist in coordinating change controls and managing deviations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of import/export procedures and international sourcing.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in procurement software and systems (experience with SYSPRO is an advantage).
- Familiarity with cosmetic industry regulations and quality standards.
