POSITION INFO:

Responsibilities

Quantity Surveying Duties:

• Develop project budgets, prepare detailed bills of quantities, and create accurate cost plans.
• Formulate project estimates, conduct tender evaluations, and assist in drafting contracts (primarily FIDIC).
• Manage contracts throughout the project lifecycle, assess variations, and finalize project finances.
• Provide expertise in quantity surveying for building services projects.

Policy and Procedure Compliance:

• Adhere to policies, quantity surveying frameworks, construction codes, and technical standards.
• Maintain effective communication protocols among project team members, ensuring accurate information distribution for quantity surveying and contractual matters.

Estimating Quantities and Costs:

• Accurately estimate material quantities and costs to align with project requirements and budgets.

Procurement and Contractor Management:

• Procure and vet contractor quotations and packages.
• Advise clients on procurement strategies, anticipated costs, and cash flow management.

Payment Verification and Certification:

• Verify monthly applications for payment and issue precise payment certifications and valuations, including interim payment certificates.

Variation Management:

• Measure, assess, and document variations, ensuring all changes are justified and appropriately recorded.

Final Accounts Preparation:

• Prepare, submit, and negotiate project final accounts, ensuring financial accuracy and agreement.

Subcontractor Management:

• Manage and approve monthly valuations and final accounts for subcontractors to ensure financial integrity.

Tender Documentation:

• Prepare and compile tender and contractual documentation.
• Facilitate tender selection and appraisal processes, providing recommendations for client approval.

Collaboration with Professional Teams:

• Liaise with professional teams to prepare tender reports and documentation, confirming adjustments to tender sums.

Requirements

Educational Background:

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or Building Services Engineering, with a specialization in quantity surveying.
• A recognized professional qualification in the field is essential.

Professional Membership:

• Membership in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or an equivalent professional body is preferred.

Experience:

• Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor on diverse projects, including residential, commercial, infrastructure, and hospitality sectors.

Industry Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of standards, legislation, and practices applicable to the construction industry in Malta.

Technical Proficiency:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with BIM and related design systems is advantageous.

Additional Requirements:

• A valid driving license for site visits, valuations, and managing bills of quantities.

Soft Skills:

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work under pressure while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong attention to detail, assertiveness, and the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts.
