Quality Manager – Foods industry
My client is seeking a Quality Manager to join their team. The successful incumbent will will be responsible to ensure compliance with industry and legislative quality standards; ensuring that systems and procedures operated within the business align with the requirements of HACCP, NRCS and EU requirements

Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct product compliance tests for purposes of export sampling and certification of white fish and other species.
- Drive quality awareness strategy in the plant by leading the HACCP team and coordinating cross-functional engagement on quality issues and solutions.
- Set customer service standards ensuring that the product or service provided is fit for purpose and meets all customer and legislative requirements.
- Drive implementation of the quality management system by evaluating adequacy of standards, conducting regular audits, monitoring compliance, and providing expert advice as required.
- Conduct training on revised quality and food safety principles; further updating stakeholders on tools and techniques to enable achievement of quality standards.
- Conduct a mock recall of product defects in preparation for the actual recall.
- Conduct annual management reviews and set up documentation procedures.
- Ensure that all employees handling fish products are subjected to medical surveillance assessments.
- Manage conduct and behaviour of team members, further ensuring that they are motivated to deliver required outcomes consistently.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 and a minimum National Diploma in Food Technology
- Certificate in Quality Management
- More than 5 years working as a senior quality specialist or quality engineer within a quality management environment
- Knowledge of Food safety standards, Microbiology and exposure to NRCS inspection procedures as well as governing industry legislation
- Knowledge of HACCP
- Knowledge of External regulators and Service Providers (NRCS, EU export compliance, HACCP, DEFF and MSC).
- Knowledge on use of TRACES system
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Own transport
