SUMMARY:
QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

Our client produces cheese and butter and is hiring for a QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER. This position reports to the Operations Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Food Safety System (FSSC22000).
- Manage action plans related to food safety systems.
- Serve as management representative during food safety, quality, and legislative audits.
- Monitor compliance with applicable legislation.
- Analyse and trend non-conformances and manage verification and validation activities.
- Manage and trend all customer complaints.
- Communicate with management and liaise with sister companies to ensure uniformity in food safety standards and finished goods.
- Develop and execute a yearly training schedule; organize organizational training.
- Train teams on food safety and health and safety standards.
- Supervise all internal audits and ensure successful execution of external audits.
- Report quarterly on quality/food safety objectives, compile action plans, and monitor execution.
- Lead monthly food safety and quality meetings.
- Research new standards related to acceptable levels in food safety and other hazards.
- Compile and manage SLAs according to established procedures.
- Coordinate with retailers for label sign-offs with regards to legal requirements.
- Review and update FSMS documentation.
- Manage Food Fraud (VACCP studies) and Food Defense (TACCP) systems, ensuring action plans are followed.
- Oversee the quality team.
- Act as SHE Chairperson, hazardous chemical substance coordinator, work permits supervisor, and emergency team member (evacuation Marshall).
- Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Health & Safety System.
- Management representative and collaborate with outsourced SHE representatives for legislative audits.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:- A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Food Technology or Food Science or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years in Quality Assurance Management.
- At least 5 years of experience managing a quality team.
- Experience in the dairy industry is an advantage.
- Implementation and maintenance of FSSC22000.
REQUIREMENTS:- Familiarity with current food safety legislation and regulations.
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans, both spoken and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Willingness to work weekend shifts when operationally required and must have own transport.
