SUMMARY:
Leading international corrosion protection contractor and coatings manufacturer, has a vacancy for a Materials Manager for a 6 month contract period.
The successful candidate must be able to start immediately.
No permanent employment is guaranteed after the project completion.

Desired Requirements:
- Degree or National Diploma in Materials Management
- Proficient in Excel, Word, MS Projects and PowerPoint (as a minimum).
- Valid and unendorsed driver’s licence
Desired Experience:- Minimum 5 years' experience in materials management.
- Grit blasting, heavy-duty coatings and corrosion protection will be an advantage.
- High-level organisational and record-keeping skills.
- In-depth understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Good understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
- Compilation of procedures, site/project plans and associated documentation.

Duties and responsibilities:- The Materials Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products for the project.
- Identifying material requirements, sourcing ideal suppliers, managing inventory and logistics.
- Directs production and inventory control, shipping and receiving, and materials/equipment storage.
- Maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within required timelines.
- Maintains and ensures the accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
- Identifies opportunities to reduce transportation costs and charges.
- Procurement of materials required for the project.
- Analysing financial reports, price proposals and other information used to determine reasonable pricing.
- Meeting with vendors and staff to discuss unacceptable and defective products and establish corrective action.
- Manage the storeman for the project.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
