Looking for an Engineer’s Representative (Resident Engineer) to join their Cape Town team for a duration of 12 months on a construction project located in the Cape Town CBD. The contract may be renewable.

POSITION INFO:
Job function
The Resident Engineer will act under the direction of the Contracts Engineer appointed in terms of the contract and will take immediate charge of all matters within the power delegated to this role as the Engineer’s Representative (Resident Engineer) on civil, urban and road projects.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required
- BEng (Civil) / BSc (Civil) / BTech (Civil Engineering) degree essential
- Professional registration with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech or Candidate about to register as professional
- 5+ years' experience in construction supervision / management
- Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.)
- Experience in contractual matters, including claim evaluations.
- Thorough working knowledge of Conditions of Contract (GCC 2015)
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent client relation skills
- Must be conversant with modern project management techniques.
- Relevant experience with City of Cape Town projects advantageous
- The Applicant is required to have experience as the Engineer’s Representative (Resident Engineer) on civil, urban and road projects
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Must be medically fit and willing to work on construction sites
- Own transport and valid driver’s license essential
