SUMMARY:
Leading automotive parts manufacturer is looking for a Product Development Manager to join their team. This position is based in Johannesburg, on the East Rand.

POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Product Development Manager with a strong engineering background to lead product development initiatives within our organization.
The ideal candidate must have expertise in the automotive industry, a passion for innovation and a proven track record of driving projects to successful completion.

Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer needs.
Manage cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, quality assurance, and supply chain, to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
Oversee and implement PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) processes to meet automotive industry standards.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address technical challenges and ensure compliance with automotive quality systems (ISO 9001, VDA 6, ISO IATF 16949, Q1).
Utilize advanced project management tools and methodologies to coordinate multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Maintain proficiency with software systems including Covisint, GroupSupply, Teamcenter, MDSystems, SolidWorks, CATIA, and MS Office.
Conduct data analysis and problem-solving to optimize product designs and processes, ensuring maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Stay up to date on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices within the automotive sector

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology (BTech (Eng)), Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc(Eng)), or Bachelor of Engineering (BEng).

Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of Original Equipment (OE) engineering experience within the automotive industry.
Proven expertise in PPAP and APQP processes.
Familiarity with advanced software tools such as Covisint, GroupSupply, Teamcenter, MDSystems, SolidWorks, and CATIA.

Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office applications.
Excellent project management skills; certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is advantageous.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of automotive quality systems (ISO 9001, VDA 6, ISO IATF 16949, Q1).
Keen interest in the automotive industry, with a strong understanding of its trends and challenges.
