Brief Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal ABAP Object-Oriented Developer to join the IS&T – ESC Branch. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and enhancement of SAP solutions, focusing on ABAP Object-Oriented programming. This role requires expertise in SAP S/4HANA, ECC migration, and oData services, as well as a deep understanding of SAP architecture and development processes. The candidate will also play a critical role in supporting the City’s SAP systems and ensuring optimal performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions, including configuration, programming, reporting, interfaces, security, and role management.
• Design and develop software architecture to meet business and technical requirements.
• Lead and perform ABAP Object-Oriented programming, including testing, debugging, and enhancement of SAP modules.
• Oversee and execute system migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, ensuring seamless transitions.
• Develop and manage oData services to support integration of SAP applications.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other developers within the team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement SAP solutions that align with business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with SAP development best practices, system security, and performance optimization.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Qualifications:

• Developer-specific SAP Certification for all levels (mandatory).

Experience:

• Minimum of 8+ years of SAP development experience with a focus on ABAP Object-Oriented programming.
• Demonstrated expertise in software architecture, design, and development.

Core Skills:

• Proficiency in analyzing business requirements and identifying technical solutions.
• Advanced knowledge of ABAP Object-Oriented programming for testing, debugging, and enhancement.
• Deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA development and implementation.
• Proven experience in SAP ECC to S/4HANA migration projects.
• Strong skills in oData services development and integration.

Other Requirements:

• Prior experience working with the City of Cape Town (mandatory).
