Plant Engineer Nelspruit

A vacancy exists for a Plant Engineer that will be responsible to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize various equipment that drive processes in a plant with a strong emphasis on process improvement and plant maintenance, whilst, maintaining a strong safety and environmental compliance focus for plant and equipment.

Qualifications: • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent, and commercial training. • Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) Factories Related Experience: • 15 years’ experience as a Plant Engineer in a power plant / utilities environment. Key Performance Outputs • Develop strategies for the Engineering Department in line with O&M strategy. • Develop and ensure the implementation of Engineering department work instructions, policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service. • Proactively reduce breakdowns, ensure effective plant preventative maintenance and plant improvements to deliver above target plant reliability. • Overview and assess planned maintenance activities to verify that it is carried out effectively. Physically observe maintenance team on planned maintenance tasks when required. Review PM reports and schedule and revise frequencies and plan interventions to prevent breakdowns. • Provide input into major breakdowns and analyse all breakdowns with maintenance team to determine root cause and determine requirements to implementation of corrective/preventive measures. • Develop strategies for the Engineering Department in line with O&M strategy. • Develop and ensure the implementation of Engineering department work instructions, policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service. • Proactively reduce breakdowns, ensure effective plant preventative maintenance and plant improvements to deliver above target plant reliability. • Overview and assess planned maintenance activities to verify that it is carried out effectively.
