Payroll Accountant

POSITION INFO:
Position Overview:

My client is looking for a highly motivated Payroll Accountant to take on a key role in the financial operations of our business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining payroll accounting duties, general ledger management, and supporting various finance and payroll-related activities to ensure smooth operations and accurate reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

- Payroll Accounting & GL Management
o Process and reconcile monthly payroll entries, ensuring integration into the Sage X3 ERP system.
o Maintain the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, coding invoices, and account reconciliations.
o Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and provide commentary, including intercompany invoicing.
o Record and maintain accurate documentation of payroll and related accounting data.
o Assist payroll and finance teams with headcount reconciliations and ensuring data is aligned with finance requirements.
- Financial Reporting & Reconciliation
o Assist with month-end closing, balancing journals, and clearing GL accounts.
o Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
o Prepare monthly payroll journal entries and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc projects.
o Collate daily cash flow figures and assist with cashbook payments as required.
o Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Audit & Compliance Support
o Assist external auditors with year-end audits, including preparation of schedules, providing supporting documentation, and explaining procedures.
o Prepare year-end audit reports, reconciliations, and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Ad-Hoc & Miscellaneous Duties
o Assist with the administration of off-payroll payments.
o Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
o Perform ad-hoc finance projects for specific business units.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (BCom) or related field.
- Proven experience in payroll accounting, preferably in an FMCG or similar industry.
- Strong understanding of general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
- Familiarity with Sage X3 ERP system is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of financial reporting, auditing, and compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and other accounting software.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Available to start immediately.
