Pastry Chef

SUMMARY:
The Pastry Chef is responsible for creating and presenting high-quality baked goods and desserts for guests at the game lodge, maintaining the lodge's reputation for exceptional culinary experiences. The role demands creativity, precision, and a deep understanding of modern and traditional pastry techniques.
Key Responsibilities:

• Design and prepare a variety of creative and delectable pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
• Develop seasonal menus in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
• Ensure consistent quality, flavor, and presentation of all pastry items.
• Maintain strict hygiene and safety standards in the pastry section.
• Oversee stock management and ingredient procurement for the pastry department.
• Train, mentor, and supervise junior pastry staff, if applicable.
• Stay updated on global pastry trends and bring innovation to offerings.
• Cater to guest preferences and dietary requirements (including gluten-free, sugar-free, and vegan options).
• Collaborate with other kitchen teams for seamless service delivery.

POSITION INFO:
Qualifications & Skills:

• Diploma or Certificate in Patisserie or Pastry Arts from a recognized culinary institution.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role at a 5-star lodge, luxury hotel, or fine dining restaurant.
• Strong knowledge of various pastry techniques, including chocolate work, sugar art, and bread baking.
• Familiarity with dietary restrictions and alternative ingredient options.
• Excellent plating and creative presentation skills.
• Understanding of kitchen safety and hygiene protocols (HACCP knowledge preferred).
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in remote locations and manage the challenges of game lodge settings.
