The AngloGold Ashanti Research Chair in Dairy Science and Technology at the University of Fort Hare represents a prestigious role dedicated to pioneering dairy science and technology advancements. This position offers a remarkable platform for a distinguished scholar to lead transformative research, collaborate with industry experts, and mentor the next generation of dairy scientists. The Chair will lead a dynamic team of researchers to address topical challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities in dairy production, processing, and product development, thereby contributing to the strategic growth of the Dairy Science and Technology Programme at the University of Fort Hare and the dairy industry in South Africa.
POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:
- A Doctoral Degree in dairy science, food science, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years’ experience in higher education
- Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience
- A distinguished record of research publications in dairy science and technology or related fields in nationally and internationally acclaimed, DHET – accredited journals, commensurate with the academic rank of Professor
- Postgraduate supervision experience, including successful masters and doctoral supervision
- Evidence of successful national and international fundraising for research.
- Recognition as an established scholar in dairy science, food technology or related area chosen area (e.g., NRF rating, international keynote addresses/ plenary lectures)

Responsibilities:- Provide academic leadership in cutting-edge research in dairy science and technology, with a focus in dairy product development, dairy product safety, sustainability, and value-added dairy processing
- Drive curriculum innovation and development to enhance the dairy science and technology programme
- Contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the Dairy Science and Technology programme
- Meet research publication requirements for the academic rank of professor
- Secure and manage external national and international research grants
- Supervise all levels of postgraduate students and host post-doctoral fellows
- Establish institutional, national, and international collaborations with dairy industry stakeholders, including producers, processors, and trade associations, to facilitate collaborative research, technology transfer, and knowledge exchange
- Organize and participate in industry-focused events, workshops, and conferences to showcase research advancements, address industry challenges, and promote sustainable dairy practices
- Provide mentorship of early career academics
- Engage with local and provincial communities through integrated research and teaching, in promotion of the University’s mission and values.
