PRODUCTION MANAGER
Bonnievale
 
This position is available at a cheese factory in the town of Bonnievale, situated in the picturesque Klein Karoo.  The job incumbent will report directly to the Operations Manager.  The ideal candidate will be a manager with the ability to oversee different departments, establish strong routines for efficiencies and food safety culture and strong people managing skills.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Planning and successful execution of weekly production schedules.
• Daily, efficiencies, yield versus milk receiving, reporting to OM.
• Disciplined in meeting deadlines, reporting, daily, weekly and monthly.
• Weekly planning of shifts, effective and efficient use of staff.
• Continuous improvement of efficiencies.
• Coordinate planned shutdowns for preventative maintenance program with maintenance team and external contractors.
• Implementation of a strong food safety culture, maintain policies and procedures, also continuous improvement of food safety systems in coordination with quality department.
• Good coordination and communication with non-operational departments, Finance, Quality, Sales, Logistics and Maintenance.
• Maintain good communications, relations and coordination with our sister companies.
• Constant evaluation of staff, identify skill and planning of skills development programs for position specific.
• Create a disciplined, safe and proud environment to work in.
• Good problem solving and initiative skills.
• Availability after hours and work on weekends as per monthly management work schedules.

• Formal training, degree/diploma Operations Management, Project Management or relevant training in dairy industry and 8 years’ experience in production management OR
• Qualified by experience, 10 years’ experience in Production Management, People Management, Head Cheese Maker, management of different departments in the dairy industry.
• Experience in the dairy or FMCG industry, will be to the applicant’s advantage.
