Operations Manager (Tea Plant)

SUMMARY:
Well established food manufacturing company, located in Cape Town requires an Operations Manager to lead the manufacturing team at their Tea producing plant.  The Ops Manager will be a key driver in development and implementation of facility and process improvement initiatives.

POSITION INFO:
Purpose:

Ensure the plant metrics are achieved in a safe, timely, quality, cost efficient and productive manner. The incumbent is accountable for the achievement of product quality and foods safety, manufacturing costs, inventory management, productivity, strike rate and HSE compliance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
• 5-10 years’ People management experience is required
• 5- 10 years’ Production Management and leadership experience in a FMCG manufacturing environment.
• Experience in implementing world class manufacturing practices
• Strong in systems driven data, which is heavily relied upon, to back decisions and actions as well as reporting and querying inventory variances so the incumbent must be keen to learn and utilize systems which will ultimately simplify the incumbent’s role

• Responsible for overall management of the manufacturing processes as well as pre and post manufacturing support functions and activities.
• Manage monthly, as well as annual metrics to support operation productivity, quality, food safety, delivery and H&S
• Ensure compliance and accuracy on Procedures, Systems and Processes
• Ensure accurate and efficient Inventory Management
• Report on performance measures on a predetermined frequency
• Lead a team of motivated Supervisors and Managers in a customer focussed and efficiency driven environment
• Responsible for continuous improvement, management of best practices, documenting standard work, and ensuring highest possible levels of productivity.
• Drive the implementation of as well as compliance with the company Food Safety, Quality and HSE programs.
• Manage third party service providers.
• Manage costs against budgets set
• Ensure site is appropriately staffed and functions are covered based on shift schedule
