Our client is seeking an experienced Metallurgist (Materials Scientist) with 5-10 years of experience in the mining, materials science, or metallurgical industries. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and improving the properties of metals and alloys used in mining and manufacturing processes. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the optimization and efficiency of material processing at a leading company in the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Material Analysis: Analyze the properties of ores, metals, and alloys to support mining and refining operations.
• Process Development: Develop and refine processes for metal extraction, refining, and smelting to improve efficiency and metal quality.
• Testing & Evaluation: Conduct a wide range of material tests including hardness, tensile, and fatigue tests, and evaluate metallurgical data to guide production.
• Failure Analysis: Investigate and resolve material performance issues, identifying root causes and suggesting corrective actions.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, production teams, and safety personnel to optimize processes and resolve technical challenges.
• Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in metallurgy, material science, and mining technologies to enhance operational capabilities.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all processes adhere to industry safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Training & Support: Provide technical guidance and training to junior metallurgists and operations staff.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience: 5-10 years of experience as a Metallurgist or Materials Scientist within the mining or manufacturing industry.
• Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of metallurgical processes, material properties, and failure analysis, including metal extraction, refining, and alloy development.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex material and process issues.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards in metallurgy and mining.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and report findings.
• Certifications: Relevant qualifications in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure and in dynamic environments, prioritizing tasks and making decisions in real time.

Education:

• Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Preferred: Specialized certifications or training in Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Materials Processing.
