POSITION INFO:

We are thrilled to have partnered with a busy and growing engineering consulting company in their search for a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer. The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering exceptional engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to innovative building services projects.

Key Requirements

Education:

• Minimum: BEng / BSc / B-Tech or higher from a recognized institution in South Africa.
• For foreign qualifications: a valid certificate from SAQA verifying the qualification is required.

Experience:

• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering with PrEng/ PrTech Eng registration
• PrEng / PrTech Eng candidates will be considered, but must have a minimum of 10 years working experience.
• Advantageous: Experience with HVAC, Wet Services, building transportation systems, and Fire Services.
• Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit (or basic Revit), and related mechanical design software.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations and prepare detailed reports.
• Perform computer modelling and simulations for HVAC systems.
• Develop reports and documentation per ECSA and client project stages.
• Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, and health and safety standards.
• Advise on suitable materials for mechanical engineering services.
• Collaborate with designers on construction plans and blueprints.
• Enhance building energy efficiency and oversee restoration projects.
• Prepare high-level estimates, detailed bills of quantities, and costings.
• Draft scope of work, specifications, tender, and contract documents.
• Mentor junior engineers, technologists, and technicians.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure designs align with specifications.
• Review drawings and develop project standards.
• Sign off on applicable mechanical engineering work.
• Support business development initiatives.
