POSITION INFO:
Job Description:
Create and compile various technical documents for manufacturing and quality control processes
Support several production lines, including manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, installation drawings, quality control drawings, checklists, technical bulletins, SOPs, and bills of materials
Design and detail new product developments and design changes through the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process
Focus on tooling design, jig design, manufacturing process design, weight and cost optimization, design for assembly, Bill of Materials (BOM), and part design
Create CAD models (2D & 3D) and perform calculations for design and specification purposes
Ensure completeness of specifications issued to production, procurement, logistics, and all relevant departments
Investigate and implement new products or technologies to improve design, quality, processes, and reduce manufacturing costs
Assist with prototype builds for new projects
Introduce design changes through the change management process
Communicate new design rollout information to departments, including feedback to the Project Manager for successful implementation
Ensure deliverables meet project deadlines
Complete critical quality checks during new part prototyping or ECR implementation
Perform ad hoc tasks as required
Skills & Experience:
BTech/B-degree (NQF Level 7) in Engineering or a related field
2-4 years in engineering/design within a manufacturing industry
Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and build sequence
Proficient in Solidworks (2015 onwards) and basic knowledge of AutoCAD/Draft-sight (2010 onwards); speed/accuracy tests to be conducted
Working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
Minimum requirements
National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Engineering or a related field
2-4 Years in engineering/design within a manufacturing industry
Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
